DR OYINWOLA AZEEZ ONI AND THE ROAD TO SUCCESS

The visit of the Executive members of the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD) Lagos State Branch to the Director of NAZ Medical Diagnostic Services, Dr Oyinwola Azeez Oni on Monday, 18th April 2022 was more of the mentorship program on the road to success.
The team of GMLD led by the Chairman, Adekoya Abimbola Julius comprised the Vice Chairman, Doris Chinello Callistus, the Secretary General Dr Leo Aniakor, the publicity Secretary, Ubi Chris and the Assistant General Secretary, Ikechukwu Unamba.
GMLD Chairman in his speech, extolled the attributes of the host, Dr Oni as a pacesetter and torchbearer in the medical laboratory profession.
Adekoya Abimbola told the people in attendance that the mission of the organization were in three folds namely to draw strength from his wealth of experience, to confer on him the life PATRON of GMLD Lagos State Branch and to get his consent to institute an annual lecture, Dr Oyinwola Azeez Oni Annual lecture.
Dr Oni was visibly happy to see the team and he appreciated them for the honour. He agreed to be honored as patron and he also approved the setting up of the annual lecture.
He told the team that he was the first Chairman of GMLD Lagos and the first National Vice President South West. He added that he was the first Medical Laboratory Scientist to be on the board of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS). Besides, Dr Oni was the first Vice President of HCPAN.
NAZ Director took his guests into the short story of his success.
He said he started his life from the humble beginning. He did not forget to add that he finished from the School of Medical Laboratory Science of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital as the overall best student in Hematology and Blood Group Serology (BGS) while his best friend and a classmate, Barrister Marcus Daudu was the best in Chemical pathology.
Dr Oni said he started his professional sojourn with a Laboratory practice after many years of experience.
He advised that there is nothing bad in taking loans from the bank if it will be judiciously use to promote the business.
He promised to assist the upcoming scientists who are members of GMLD in equipment leasing on friendly repayment plans.
Dr Oni told his guests that a lecture he attended on “why business die with the owner of the business” changed his orientation and that guided him into willingly surrender his office to Afriglobal Medicare on mutual terms having in my the words of
John D. Rockefeller that “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.”
He finally told the people to learn from the words of Colin Powell that
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”
He conducted his guests into the Afriglobal laboratory within his premises.
