GUILD OF (PRIVATE) MEDICAL LABORATORY DIRECTORS (GMLD) PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR OF THE LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU).

Prince (Dr) Elochukwu Adibo, the National President of the Guild of (Private) Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD) and his team, today, 29th August 2023 paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

During the visit the President congratulated the University for their key achievements during the Vice Chancellor’s tenure and commended them for successfully commencing a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program in the university’s newly established department of Medical Laboratory Science.

Prince Elochuckwu expressed deep appreciation to the University for doing the needful and filling up the gaps in the healthcare ecosystem.

He explained that it is humanity, the society and country at large that stands to benefit from such selfless decisions. He attributed the achievements of Prof. Olatunji-Bello to hard work, commitment to standard and her disposition to bring everybody on board for positive results.

The GMLD presented a letter of appreciation to the University on behalf of the board of trustees (BOT), National Executive Officers (NEOs), members of GMLD nationwide and the Medical Laboratory Scientist’s larger family to express their appreciation to the institution.

Dr Adibo notified the University that due to the importance attached to the letter, the Registrar of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr Tosan Erhabor and the National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Prof. James Damen were copied alongside.

Dr Adibo also deeply expressed his appreciation to the efforts of Prof. Kolawole Oyedeji for facilitating the meeting between the GMLD members and the Vice Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor was, thereafter, decorated with an Associate member of the Association and was also invited officially to the 2023 National Conference of the Association holding in Lagos between 19th and 23rd September 2023, as the Chairman of the opening Occasion.

They also discussed future areas of cooperation, including strengthening the staff capacity in the newly established department by qualified members of Association coming up to fill in space for different cadres of lecturers, and as well as the need for technical support in laboratory practical training.

Present at the occasion were Dr Shekoni Lateef, the Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s office, Mr Salami Lateef, Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Seun Gbanja, Media Assistant to the VC.

The GMLD team comprised of GMLD leadership from South West region which included the National Vice President South- West, Olumuyiwa Onaneye, Igwe Akujuobi, Dr Ibikunle Femi, Mrs Nebo Chinwe, Adekoya Abimbola Julius, Chairman GMLD Lagos and Vincent Iwunze.
