When we were younger, we heard of Anjou Senior, Pa Joseph Albert Agboola Anjou who was an easy going person and the vibrant, political and vocal Anjou junior, Mr John Akinola-Anjou.

The death of Pa Agboola Anjou is a big loss to this profession because the man lived to protect, promote and sustain what medical laboratory science stands for.
He was a Medical Laboratory Scientist, whose area of specialization was Histopathology.
He retired from public service in 2005 as a Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist from the Lagos State Health Service Commission.
He was the National Publicity Secretary of AMLSN during the reign of Prof. Dennis E. Agbonlahur.
He was the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigerian Union Pharmacists, Medical Technologist and Allied Professions in 1992 for a full term and won many awards for the union that the then Hon. Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abisogun Noah acceded to all his demands including allowing the inputs of Medical Laboratory Scientists at the Top management level discussion on matters concerning Medical Laboratory Scientists.
He was the first elected Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Lagos State Civil Service Chapter.
He uplifted the profession to a higher level and the office of the Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist was given her top administrative role.
He was born on May 9, 1950. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School during his primary school days and moved to Mayflower College, Ikenne for his secondary education. For his tertiary education, he studied Medical Laboratory Science, Histopathology at the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Science, Lagos, and obtained AMLSCN.
He was a Catholic and his first daughter is the present Chairperson/Chairman of Association of Female Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AFMLSN), Lagos state branch, Mrs. Yetunde Anjou-Itua.
The Funeral Mass is at Holy Cross Cathedral Lagos on Friday 13th October 2023 at 10.00am.
