BAGS  ISO 15189:2012 ACCREDITATION CERTIFICATE AND SECOND RE-CERTIFICATION

 All eyes were on El-lab Laboratory Limited on the 29th April 2021 during the presentation of the certificate of National ISO 15189:2012 accreditation for the second time. The occasion attracted people from all walks of life

 In his welcome address, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of El-Lab Laboratory, Prince Elochukwu Adibo appreciated the guests for the honour to be part of the great occasion. He added that it was the first time in history that Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and Nigerian National Accreditation System (NiNAS) will come together to joinly present certificate to an organization. He stressed the point that the ISO 15189 will improve the quality of healthcare for patients through the reduction of testing errors and attendant decrease in inappropriate treatment.

 Prince Adibo added further that the first accreditation of EL -LAB was in December 2016 that lasted for four years. That the event of the day was the second cycle of accreditation with MLSCN and the first cycle with NiNAS which further confirm the consistency of standard of the organization’s medical laboratory testing.

 The Director General and the Chief Executive Officer of NiNAS, Pharm Celestine Okanya was highly elated in his speech. He commended the EL – Lab for taking the pain to achieve the feat. The DG alluded to the fact that EL -Lab results can be used to treat patients in any part of the world. He advised other facilities to follow suit because in the coming years accreditation will be a prerequisite for operation.

 The Registrar of MLSCN, Dr Tosan Erhabor, on his own part, called on Medical Laboratory Scientists to see the need for accreditation as the enabler of quality and core component of good clinical management. He affirmed that MLSCN granted approval for National ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation to EL -Lab following the approval of the accreditation assessment report by the Independent Advisory Committee (IAC).

 The Chairman of Amuwo Local Government, Hon. Valentine Buraimoh congratulated the organization for doing great work  in his local government area. He further promised to donate an  ambulance to the organization to convey emergencies and assist the sick and also to provide a space for El – lab to set up standard medical laboratory in the council’s new ultramodern three floor Health Centre nearing completion.

 Some goodwill messages were delivered at the occasion by dignitaries, including the honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi who was represented by Pastor Olarenwaju Jenrola,  the Medical Director of Maternal and Child Center Amuwo – Dr Adedapo Soyinka, Senior Technical Officer, Shops plus/USAID – Mrs Ayodele Iroko, Mr Abiodun Hamzat, a board member of Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), the Chairman of AMLSN Lagos, Hon, Olumide Fadipe and the chairman of GMLD Lagos State.

 The facility tour was conducted by the guests before the program came to the end.
