Prof. James Damen Emerges 14th AMLSN National President

The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria held her 56th annual scientific conference and workshops at Abakaliki in Ebonyi state.

The theme of the conference was “Misdiagnosis and Patient Safety in Nigeria Health System: The Medical Laboratory Priority”

The Registrar/CEO of the MLSCN Dr Tosan Erhabor took to the podium to explain that “annual practicing license will henceforth carry the passport photographs of the owner/individual MLS.  This has become necessary to stop the impersonation and counterfeiting of the license by criminal elements like quacks and impersonators out there from the continuous abuse of the license”

 On Covid-19 rapid testing kits, the Registrar reiterated his earlier warning about the use of the kits that are not approved by the council will attract heavy penalty.

 Lectures were delivered during conference by erudite scholars.

Prof Dennis Agbolahor delivered a lecture titled: Molecular Diagnostic Technologies: New Frontiers in Bio-Entrepreneurship

  Prof Akinloye took to the floor to inform the audience on: Primer Development

 Prof Christian Happi lecture was on Molecular Diagnostic Technology

 Prof Tatfeng Mirabeau lectures was on the Gene Detection

 Dr Simon Agwale did well on his paper on the Real Time Testing Kit Development

 Prof Faruk Sarkinfada told the scientists present what to know on the Antimicrobial Resistant

 The peak of the conference was the election that saw to the emergence of new executive members for the association.

 Prof. James Garba Damen who is currently the Head of Department, Medical Laboratory Science, University of Jos succeeded Dr Bassey E. Bassey as the helmsman of the Association.
